Bring on the chalkboard paint

I was so excited to have a weekend home, for the first time in a long time, that I woke up Sunday morning thinking I was going to make a mosaic table top for the patio table Little Man threw a rock at . . . Hubby didn't think it was such a good idea to start such a big undertaking . . . so, bring on the chalkboard paint!

We started out with a box of cheap (purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond for a party a few years ago for $9.99) wine glasses, chalkboard paint, painters tape & brushes.

We taped the stems of the glasses to make a clean line and then scratched up the glass with sand paper, to insure the paint would stick.  Little Man loved helping with this part.

Then we painted the bases.  Lesson learned from Hubby - less is more!  A few layers of thin paint is better than one big clumpy, runny, bubbly layer.

My family has a strange addiction to Biltmore Inspirations Mountain Berry Wasabi Mustard.
This leaves us with lots of jars I intend to repurpose.
"LIGHT BULB"!

Roughed up the lids too.

The we painted the bottoms first.

Little Man was really good at these.

Voila!

Very important, you must season your new chalkboard.
To do that, all you need to do is take a piece of chalk, lay it on it’s side,
and gently color the entire surface of the board.
Erase the chalk and your new chalkboard is ready to use.

Now I have jars I can write on, to store open seasoning packets.
These are Biltmore Inspirations
Tuscan Parmesan Season Mix
Sundried Tomato Dip Mix
and
Roasted Garlic Basil Seasoning Mix

Next time I invite you over and say "I have a glass of wine with your name on it",
you better believe me!

and purchased these at Hobby Lobby, for 40% off.
I can't wait to be creative with my new Chalk Markers.

Meal Planning Kit, Week 4, Day 4

Hubby is so happy, it is another breakfast for dinner night!  The teenager arrived home from college today, for the summer, and is ready to enjoy some home cooking.

Hearty Apple Bread French Toast

Hearty White Bread Quick Mix & beer
I made this before work this morning, so it would be all ready for dinner

There is something special about homemade bread dough

Everything is better with a little butter drizzled on top

Smells amazing

Time to turn it into apple French toast

Apple Orchard Butter

Milk

Vanilla

Time for an egg bath

Next time I will let it soak a little longer

Flip

Sizzle, sizzle

Golden

Beautiful

Hubby's quote: "Fabulous, this meal could be great for breakfast or dinner . . . or lunch . . . or a snack".

Fun with the kids - The teenager started by saying "I don't like French toast", Me: "great, but you still have to try it" . . . "Mom, can you make this for breakfast some time.  This is the best meal I have had in a long time".   I guess he likes this French toast!

Little Man was a different story, he didn't like the French toast or Apple Orchard Butter, so he asked if he could put Mountain Berry Wasabi Mustard on it.   Why not, if he will eat it . . . and, he did!

Bonus:

I love my sister-in-law, we are great friends and she has brought so much to my big brother & our family.  One of our favorite things she brought to our family is a new way to cook bacon.  Who knew you could bake it in the oven & throw away the mess with the aluminum foil?

Meal Planning Kit, Week 4, Day 3

The last three meals, in the week 4 meal planning kit, where moved to the end; because I didn't realized there was some prep needed ahead of time.  It is important to read all the recipes and plan your week accordingly!

So, now we start with one that needed one of my favorite breads baked ahead of time, the Savory Tuscan Bread Quick Mix

Focaccia Sandwich & Roasted Garlic Basil Salad

It's that easy, just Savory Tuscan Bread Quick Mix & beer

Drizzle with EVOO

Smells & looks so yummy, can't we just eat it now!

Slice into a giant sandwich

Hot Raspberry Chipotle Mayo

Both sides get our special sauce

Lettuce

Roast beef

Cheddar cheese

Isn't it beautiful

Sour cream

Oil

White wine vinegar

Roasted Garlic Basil Seasoning

All ready to mix up

Creamy goodness

On the salad

Perfect summer meal

Hubby's quote: "You can't go wrong with lots of the Hot Raspberry Chipotle Mayo"

More about Little Man - He is our fruits & veggies guy.  The exception to this rule is salad, he doesn't like salad!  So, much to our surprise, he is sneaking this salad out of the serving dish.  Like everything else, he just had to try a bite or tow and he did . . . then we caught him sticking his fork into the serving bowl to grab more.   I think I will be making this salad dressing a lot!
